There are more than 1,000 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in Itasca County and the Grand Rapids Area. You'll find these trails to be not only some of the most scenic, but also less crowded than other prime snowmobiling areas. The Swampsiders Snowmobile Club, located just a few miles from Loon Point Resort, maintains many of the trails in our area, with other governmental units maintaining the nearby Taconite Trail and others. Our winter guests tell us that the trails in our "neck of the woods" are some of the nicest trails they've ridden. And they don't have to fight the crowds. There are a number of gas stations and restaurants nearby – so you can fill up your sled's tank and your tank. In addition to riding the trails in Itasca County, you can also head east from the resort and enjoy the trails in St. Louis County.
You will have direct access from Loon Point Resort to the groomed Herb Brandstrom trail via a short ungroomed old logging road trail (the locals keep it packed down!). And if you would like to rent a snowmobile, check into Rapids Rental of Grand Rapids. They will even deliver the sleds to our resort for you!
Accommodations for winter include our newest log cabins – Tamarack, Maple and Balsam – as well as our spacious lakehome White Pine. All of our winterized cabins have TV/DVD and gas log fireplaces, as well as a dishwasher. Tamarack and White Pine are 4 bedroom, accommodating up to 14. Maple is a 4 bedroom accommodating up to 10. And Balsam is three bedroom, accommodating 8 persons.
Whether it's a small group or a large group needing multiple cabins, we're here to serve you. There's ample parking space for your trailers and vehicles. And our lodge has a pool table, foosball, and board games. Interested in eating out? Head down to Scenic Pines Bar and Grill only a few miles south of us and accessible also by snowmobile trail.
